The music of Jason Roebke Combination takes inspiration from bebop of the 1950s and freely improvised music of the 1960s, two passions of band leader, bassist, and composer Jason Roebke. The group consists of Roebke along with alto saxophonist Greg Ward, drummer Frank Rosaly, and Brian Labycz on modular synth. The sound of Labycz's modular synth, the wild card in this pack, takes a position somewhere between percussionist and pianist, making for the challenging and often unexpected twists and turns in this very original sounding quartet.
