ingebrigt haker-flaten - bass jeff parker - guitar ola kvernberg - violin dave rempis - reeds frank rosaly - drums ingebrigt håker flaten quintet was established in 2004 and had its start in the bustling jazz scene of oslo/norway where ingebrigt had his base from the mid 90's until he relocated to chicago in 2006. The oslo-club "Blå" was established in the late 90's, a place where musicians from different genres was gathering and which became a club of huge importance for the creative forces of the music undergrounds of oslo. ingebrigt håker flaten quintet became a result of all the different styles of music ingebrigt was exposed to around the oslo scene those years and the original lineup consisted of guitarist anders hana, alto player klaus holm and the swedish drummer fredrik liungkvist. violin player ola kvernberg joined the group in 2005 and their first CD "quintet" was released with this lineup in the spring of 2006 by the norwegian record label jazzland rec.
ingebrigt moved to chicago in 2006 and soon became a part of the vibrant scene of renowned improvisers from the windy city. It became naturally to switch the lineup in the quintet to let use of the musicians from chicago, and when ingebrigt håker flaten quintet toured scandinavia in the spring of 2007 dave rempis have replaced klaus holm on saxophones, frank rosaly was the new drummer and jeff parker was playing guitar instead of anders hana who quit to offer all his time and energy to the punk/trash/jazz duo "MOHA". this new lineup toured europe in the spring of 2007 & 2008, and released the quintet's second CD "the year of the boar", also on jazzland rec.
